Welcome to my ‘tongue-in-chic’ life, style, and happiness guide from a funny princess point of view!
We’re often told that we should sail in the direction of our dreams. That’s great, but we’re not often told how choppy the waters are on the way. Especially in the beginning when we’re just getting our sea legs. We’re not prepared for the rough waters facing us as we launch our boat. We don’t foresee the stressful moments that make us question our talents.
When I started my career as a lawyer, I certainly didn’t think I was Clarence Darrow, but I had enough gumption to start my own law practice in a quaint New Jersey town after a stint as an associate. My office was located on the first floor of a building next to a train station parking lot. My very first law client was a “walk in” off the street. I was excited to have any clients at all, so I didn’t question the method of his engagement. After all, wasn’t getting a “walk in” one of the benefits of having a first-floor office?
The guy looked around my office, stopping to investigate each diploma and certification on my walls. After a few moments, he asked me how much it would cost to have his name changed. Nothing weird about that request. I pulled a number out of my head as I had no idea what something like that should cost. I had never done a name change for a client. I had never had a client! The next thing he asked me was weird, however. Weird and disturbing…in a huge way…..CLICK ON TITLE TO CONTINUE!

I’m delighted to share the newest installment of my Series: Enchanting Discoveries…People Places Things that highlight fabulous treasures I encounter in my travels.
Today’s enchanting discovery highlights the brilliant, multi-talented and yes, enchanting Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, whom I had the honor and pleasure to meet at a recent event in New York City. The prince’s story is a real time fairy tale of majesty in the mists; he’s related to history book royals like Charlemagne, Catherine the Great, and Louis XIV. He’s also a world-renowned jewelry designer. His new book, “Once Upon A Diamond” with a forward by Carolina Herrera illuminates this fascinating heritage and staggering swath of cross-continental history using a unique and fascinating perspective to tell the tale: the magnificent jewels his ancestors owned and wore. It’s quite an amazing voyage to read about the lives of these royals and how they handled the waves of turmoil and change. Of course some of them didn’t. Prince Dimitri’s unique heritage enables him, in many instances, to give us a birds-eye view and insider’s “scoop” on their thoughts and feelings, some passed down and some gained first-hand. Reading the book, one feels like a fly on the palace walls. A very privileged fly…CLICK ON TITLE TO CONTINUE!
After learning I was a modern day princess, but not having access to any sort of Princess protocol school, I had to learn the royal ropes as I went along. Pretty soon it became clear to me that being a princess is not all Tatler and tiaras. (Tatler being a high fallut’in British society mag.). No, in order to be an effective and well-loved princess, there had to be something more that I was supposed to do. Something much more. I was going to have to create some meaning for myself, and make my reign count. So I decided to create for myself my Princess Credo. Here it is: Read more…
Today’s Princess Positivty Pointer is about one of the big secrets of success, and it’s hidden in the secret of Vic’s lawn. I once had a neighbor named Vic. He had the most impeccable, verdant lawn I have ever seen. You know how they say the grass is always greener at someone else’s house, meaning it’s not? Well it was. Vic’s grass was greener…greener than mine, greener than the guy across the street, greener than everyone’s. It was kind of a neighborhood joke, but underneath, everyone, including me, was kind of green about it. Read more…
